PRIME PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCES AMBITIOUS EIGHTH SEASON!
We are thrilled to unveil our first full season since the pandemic. This 2025-26 season will feature two full productions: Sarah Ruhl’s For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday and the world premiere of Abuelita by Nathan Yungerberg.
FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70TH BIRTHDAY
By Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Miriam Monasch
October 11–26, 2025 (Previews October 9 & 10)
Mixed Blood Theatre, Minneapolis
This fantastical dramedy from acclaimed American playwright Sarah Ruhl follows adult siblings grappling with the passing of their father and their own identities as they age. With humor, heart, and a dash of magic, the play explores memory, family, politics, and the timeless struggle to “grow up.” PRIME’s production will be its Twin Cities premiere and highlights the tenderness and wit of Ruhl’s writing while centering the perspective of women navigating later life with courage and curiosity. It’s a moving reminder that growing older doesn’t mean losing wonder—it means redefining what it means to fly.
ABUELITA
By Nathan Yungerberg
Director TBD
March 14–29, 2026 (Previews March 12 & 13)
The Capri, North Minneapolis
PRIME Productions is proud to present the world premiere of Abuelita by Nathan Yungerberg. Set in 1990s Spanish Harlem, the play follows a vibrant neighborhood where cultures, generations, and identities collide and connect. When a Midwestern grandmother and her mixed-race grandson arrive, they’re welcomed by three Nuyorican women over 50, a street-smart young girl, and a gay man whose love of drums sparks the discovery of joy, heritage, and belonging. Abuelita is a heartfelt celebration of connection, transformation, and the power of community to heal and inspire.
PRIME is leaning into its founding spirit!
“We’re a small theater with big ideas, and this season, we’re acting on them. It’s time to reframe the idea of what it means to be in your PRIME—not just as characters onstage, but as a company, and as artists. This season is about bold moves and heartfelt stories. That’s where we’re putting our energy.”
